This medium sized village is just off the A-369. Heading North-Eastwards towards Ronda, take a left turning just before you enter the village of Atajate. The road is around 5km’s long and takes you through, arguably the most beautiful scenery in all of Southern Spain. Through the ravine you will travel looking ahead to the dramatic scenery and mountain ranges which are towards the Seville region. Here you will be able to see some large luxury villas that have been constructed taking advantage of the stunning views this side of the Serrania de Ronda has to offer. The road twists and turns until you can see the village of Jimera de Libera on the side of the range of mountains known as the Serrania de Ronda. As you drive into the town head up the mountain, where you should be able to find parking in one of the streets. The streets are very narrow but luckily not that steep so walking around the village shouldn’t as difficult as some of the other villages in the area. This is a typical Andalucian whitewashed village, with cobbled streets, old Spanish men congregating in the plaza and various small dogs roaming the town. Head to the Plaza Virgin de la Salud where you will be able to see the small church and here you will be able to purchase refreshments from the shop. Speaking Spanish here is essential if you want to communicate with the staff in the Ayuntamiento; where you can find out specific information on the town. The town is very clean and very pleasant with not much to note except the general feeling and ambiance of the place which is so inviting. The people are very friendly and its backyard being the stunning mountain scenery makes it an ideal base for walkers and mountain bikers alike. The main town of Ronda is little over 25km’s away and the beaches of Estepona and Marbella are little over an hours drive. There are one of two very small bars and accommodation is limited. But as this village gains popularity with the demand for mountain holidays growing this small town is sure to change. So go visit it before it does!
