Known to locals just as La Cala, the compact little village is very much a family-oriented place. Closer to the sea, the streets become narrower and the houses older, centring on a 10th century watch tower – now a museum – surrounded by a handful of quiet bars and restaurants. La Cala also boats one of the area’s most unusual churches, the Santa Teresa, built in 1971. Frequent buses ply the coast and Fuengirola is a 5-10 minute ride away.
