General Information

The Marbella Design Academy - Costa del Sol sl. was founded in 1995 and has developed ever since into modern and top level Design.

Current Academy

We are currently located in central Marbella and will be moving to our new purpose built facility in Monda during August 2008.  Our new building is developing beautifully and we look forward to welcoming all our students to our brand new facility o­n 17^th September 2008, the first day of the academic year.  The building has been approved by The Ministry of Education and complies with all the demands for a new and modern design Academy.  Most students choose to live in Monda near the Academy, but we do have a private Bus Service to and from the Academy for any students who live in Marbella. The bus timetable can be emailed upo­n request.

The Marbella Design Academy offers Tuition at University Level updated to the latest marked demands for a professional design education.  You will, for example, in your first year of study be introduced to the professional computer programs that are so important in order for our students to become among the best designers in the world.  Our graduated students have an employment rate near 100%. This is because they graduate as Professional Designers at top level.  In amongst other skills, you will study the latest computer programs, such as Auto-Cad, 3D Studio Max, PhotoShop, Illustrator, Quark, Flash and Dream Weaver. The academy follows the State recognised programmes from the Ministry of Education in Spain, which were approved on 21^st April 2003. The Marbella Design Academy will be a State Recognized Institution upon completion of our new building.

· All classes are held in English.

· Classes are held in smaller groups and provide a lot of teacher attention to each individual student, giving virtual o­ne to o­ne tuition.  This is very important for excellent academic results.

· Students come from all over the world to study at the Marbella Design Academy.  We have students from more than 33 different countries.  It is a great inspiration for students to study with other nationalities and cultural backgrounds.  The students inspire each other and are able work o­n their design projects in an international cross-cultural atmosphere.

Location

From 1^st August: Camino Hoyanca, 29110 Monda.

Only 200m (approx 3min walk) from the centre of the village.  Monda is a charming, typically Spanish village o­nly 15 km from Marbella.  It has many cosy squares, restaurants and bars.  The town is surrounded by the beautiful Spanish countryside where students have many leisure possibilities, such as horse riding, hiking, motor cross, football, basketball, flamenco dancing and Spanish guitar classes, to mention but a few.  In nearby cosmopolitan Marbella you will find many more leisure activities o­n offer.

We have a bus service to and from the Academy for those students who are living in Marbella.  In addition, there are frequent bus services to the lively, picturesque & cosmopolitan city of Marbella. Marbella is very well known for it's jet-set nightlife and beautiful beaches.

Application

· The minimum age for application is 17.

· You must possess a high school diploma or a similar qualification.

· In special cases, if a student has outstanding artistic talent, the academy can make an exception from this rule.

Accommodation

Students mainly live in rented apartments in Marbella or Monda, where it is very easy to rent a furnished property.  Properties are available at all price levels.  The prices in Marbella range from 300€ per room to 600€ and above for an apartment.  Accommodation in Monda is often less expensive than Marbella.  We recommend that all new students should consider settling down in Monda where it is possible to rent a 4-5 bedroom fully furnished house in the village for around 400 to 600€ a month.  Alternatively, for instance you can rent a “Finca” which is a country style house for around 600€ a month o­n a 3000m2 plot with orange, almonds and olive trees.

Transportation

We have a school bus service to and from the academy (Marbella - Monda).  Public transport is also available from Monda to nearby cities and villages.

Quick Facts about South of Spain – Marbella -Monda

Compared to most European cities Marbella and Monda are relatively inexpensive. Your money lasts longer in South Spain.  In addition, we have some of the best weather in Europe with more than 330 warm and sunny days a year.

Grants

Many student grant departments in Europe have approved our University degree level courses and the State Recognised programmes which the Marbella Design Academy follows.  Students from most European countries can therefore obtain grants to study at our academy.  Please check with the student grants office in your home country.

Jobs

Many students have a part-time jobs whilst studying at the Academy.  Many companies contact us direct with employment opportunities for our students.  However,  we recommend first year students wait until their skills have been developed before beginning to search for employment in their respective fields.

Design Show – Student Exhibition

Each year we hold an Exhibition-Design Show of the students work. This year our exhibition will be held o­n 6^th & 7th June 2008, at the Monda Castle.  A beautiful hotel rising o­n a mountain top above Monda village which has been constructed o­n the ruins of an old Roman castle from 45BC.

Our previous exhibitions have been a great success. The students work is judged by the press and media aswell as by industry professionals. The standard of our students work is extremely high and they are often head hunted by these companies.  Normally, we achieve a 95% employment rate for our students upon graduation.

Fees

Per academic year (800€ x10 months) = 8.000€

One off registration fee+ 500€

In total for the entire academic year =8.500€
