Hello out there,

Moving to the Malaga area in Sep 2005 to rent for a couple of months before buying. Axarquia looks like a good possibility for house purchase, any info on this area? We dont have kids, (grown up now) and we dont golf.

If you look on the left, under Property Sales, Property for Sale, try entering some of the towns or villages, such as Algarroba, Sayalonga, Archez, Competa, Canillas de Albaída etc. It should give you a feel for the prices in that area. Just as well you don´t like golf, apart from Baviera, I don´t think there is much in that area. icon_biggrin.gif
Also a non golfer.

Go for it. Its a great place I might be a bit bias though as we have had a villa built near to Alcaucin.

Its a tranquil peaceful place a little different from our last property in Nerja, cannot wait to retire there as we have lots of friends out there already.

We also hire out our Villa

Hi,
Good for you,
we have a home in La Axarquia, and there are some lovely villages with more life than you could imagine. If you want an area that is lively, traditional, friendly and has easy access to beaches and the motorway then i would have to recommend Competa.
House prices are rising, so get in soon and you won't regret it.

Hi,

we complete on a cortijo outside of Villanueva de Tapia (15 mins from Antequera)in August. Doesn't have the dramatic landscapes of the mountains, but rolling hills and olive groves.
40mins Malaga airport & same to Granada airport. Personally feel we found exactly the area we wanted with good road access, peace of the countryside yet only 10-15 minutes from any shopping you could possible need. Iznajar lake area is also worth visiting for it's inland beach & freshwater swimming

Regards
Paul & Jo
