Hi Spenny
I don't know the town really well, but I worked there for about 6 months doing football coaching. Have a couple of friends who live out that way and they all seem to love it. There is a big English/British population there although still a very Spanish Town. I was surprised how nice it was when I went as I worked in the Poli deportivo on the outskirts and hadnt been into the town. We live near Competa (biggest nearest Town) in the Axarquia and for me this is far prettier and more dramatic from a countryside point of view but its what floats your boat isn't it. I coached alot of kids there and they were all really good lads (and one or two girls) They still do it there although I moved on, but I could put you in touch if thats something your kids are into. From all accounts the schools are good. It wasn't really my cup of tea to be honest but everyone I knew really liked it there. If you want I can put you onto someone who could help answer any questions you have more in depth.
Cheers

Hi

Take a look at www.alhaurintoday.com

It has loads of really useful information, schools, events etc.

I love Alhaurin but steer well clear of the "BRIT ExPAT" spots and go to Spainish bars and restaurants.

I'm sure it has the highest percentage of Brits in the whole of Spain? Don't know where I heard the stat but I'm sure thats the case..
It doesn't "feel" British though, like some parts of the Costa
