LocationThis rustic and grand hotel was once the hunting lodge of the
Marqueses de Larios family who are well known in the city of Málaga. It
lies in the middle of a nature reserve, 800 m above sea level. Here
guests may enjoy life in the mountains without having to go without the
facilities of a good hotel. The centre of
Marbella, where public
transport links may be found, lies around 15 km away. The beach is
roughly 20 km from the hotel, whereas Málaga airport is roughly 70 km
away.
Room descriptionThe spacious rooms are traditionally decorated with much use of
wood. The excellent facilities ensure guest a comfortable and
unforgettable stay. The rooms include an en suite bathroom with a
hairdryer and toiletries, a safe, direct dial telephone (fixed or
cordless) for local and national calls, a minibar, central heating (air
conditioning is not necessary) and satellite TV. The suites and a
several rooms are additionally fitted with a Jacuzzi and a fireplace.
Some of the rooms enjoy the morning sun, others the afternoon or
evening sun.
MealsThe El Refugio kitchen is proud to offer guests delicious food with
ingredients from the region. Game meat, including marinated partridge,
deer, pheasant, quails, and mountain goat during hunting season, is the
speciality here. Vegetarian dishes are equally popular amongst guests.
In addition, delicious typical Spanish cuisine is available, as is the
famous grilled Segovian suckling pig, lamb, grilled baby goat, and a
selection of international dishes. The El Refugio de Juanar further
offers a wine cellar with more than 7000 bottles of Rioja, Ribera del
Duero, and others, comprising simply the best range of Spanish wines.
Breakfast is available to guests each morning. At lunchtime and in the
evenings guests may select dishes from the set menu or choose from the
à la carte option. Guests may book either a half board stay or a bed
and breakfast only stay.

How to get thereBy car: from the centre of
Malaga or the airport, take the A7
motorway to
Benalmadena-Algeciras. After the exits
Benalmadena and

the direction of
Monda-
Coin. At 11 km, after
Marbella, there is a sign
for the Refugio de Juanar at a junction. Follow the signposted small
road for about 5 km to reach the hotel. By public transport (not
recommended): from
Malaga airport take the train to
Fuengirola. From
there, take the bus to
Marbella or Ojén. From here, a taxi is
recommended for the remainder of the trip to the hotel.
