Villanueva de Algaidas is situated in the interior of the province of Malaga, some 30 kilometres from Antequera. Prehistoric and Roman remains have been found in this area and you can enjoy some nice walks from here to the historic remains of the convent ´´Los Recoletos de San Francisco de Asis´´, the bridge of ´´El Arroyo del Bebedero´´and the Mozarabic Church. Villanueva de Algaidas is the birthplace of the sculptor Miguel Berrocal and you can see some of his works which are exhibited here.
